You can even cut a tin can with it!
I heard this Tuesday while watching the City Council meeting and thought I must have heard wrong. But if it’s in print its gotta be true, right?
The City Council voted on Tuesday to get a draft of an ordinance that would prohibit the possession of “certain knives and weapons known to be used in criminal activities.”
Work with me here kids, is it not the case that any knife becomes exactly the kind of knife used in criminal activities immediately upon entering an unwilling liver (with the exception of foie gras)? Why is it so hard for politicians to understand/admit that criminal activities are dependent on humans, not inanimate objects.

Maybe they think that the existing statutes outlawing criminals didn’t work.
“Certain weapons…” hmmm, I guess that would include baseball bats, tire irons, rocks, and automobiles. Of course, I believe the “shod foot” is already listed as a dangerous weapon in assault cases…
In the end, I’d venture to guess that people using the weapons that politicians outlawed have killed far fewer people than politicians have.
It’s the same stupidity that brings us wacky “gun control” laws rather than criminal control laws. If someone is going to stab/shoot someone, does anyone actually believe that they’re the type of person who’ll obey some silly statute? With guns, the “mandatory” sentences for “gun crimes” are never enforced. I’m sure it’ll be the same with knives.
I know of a certain concrete building right across from City Hall that could be converted into CitySquare Penitentiary if the Council really wants to do something about violent crime.
I’m assuming the key phrase here is “known to be used,” but that doesn’t eliminate your point. Just about everything has been used for assault at one point or another!
What happened with this? Sent to subcommittee?
I’m going to go out and purposefully beat someone with a huge floppy purple dildo…just so dildos get put on the “banned” list. :p
Which of the honorable geniuses spoke those words?
Let me guess… Haller? Betcha Rushton?
How about this. Someone in Boston wants to enact a law that requires drivers to switch from the slow lane when a cop is parked in the breakdown lane, in order to prevent them from getting hit by passing cars. I feel sorry for the statey, that goes without saying.
I know that cell phones users while driving causes more deaths and damage than any law abiding driver on the Pike. But Boston still won’t move on the cell phone problem. Go figure.
When you count on the Government to solve all your crime problems, you can be assured that the problem will only increase in both frequency and brutality. How else to justify the millions of dollars ostensibly designed to “prevent” the very things that keep the hacks employed?
Face it, Worcester (and MA) have decided that releasing criminals to commit more crimes is the only way to justify the grants and extra-budgetary funds that keep the piss-poor public employees employed.
You can’t justify a mono-racial “Community Center” without statistics that prove that that community is a deathly hazard without such a Center. And to prove that they are “under-served”, you allow them to brutalize as many citizens as possible.
Some people will simply never learn from history, whether it be history from last week or from 50 years ago.

Wow. The best Worcester can do is to send this psycho home to his Mommy? I hope Mommy doesn’t have any knives.

Gordon, that story has to be wrong. Gun control laws have made us all perfectly safe, even 8 year olds.
Gordan have you ever been tested for ADD?
no why? It’s all about the “gun culture” lincoln, this boy would be alive if the rangers paid more attention to gun safety instead of passing on the gun culture, because after all this happened at a sportsman gun club! It’s a sad story I’ll be praying for this family and the nimrods who let em shoot without any concern for his safety!
Well we were talking knives and now you’re talking guns, seems like there is a problem staying on subject.
In between gun prayers can you please pray for child deaths involving stairs, bicycles and swimming pools? Or just stop with the rhetoric all together.
Sorry you’re right it was off topic, and I do pray for all victims of tragedies! I agree that knives should not be regulated any more than forks!
All accidents could be prevented, including ones with knives or guns, if only people would allow the Government to determine what they do, when they do it, and how they do it, in every aspect of their lives.
We all know the Government is great at taking care of things. Individuals making individual choices are an anachronism that will soon be abolished. Just look at all the people clamoring to get their kids out of private schools into public ones. Not to mention how great Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were at generating mortgages compared to the old way of making people actually prove that they could pay them back. Or how much nicer public beaches are than private ones.
All hail the Government!!!
