Polar Classic Sodas
At some point during todays 508 podcast I mentioned a line of Polar Classics ‘premium sodas’ I’ve been buying at Russo’s in Watertown. Does anyone know where I can pick these up in Worcester? The sodas are delicious, made with cane sugar instead of HFCS and the screened bottles are nice to look at. But I’ve never seen them around here, although I admit I haven’t looked very hard.

Cool!
honey farms
Thanks pop, haven’t been inside a Honey Farms since I stopped smoking. I also don’t see mention of them on the polar site, which seems odd. It’s a real solid product.

I picked up a bottle on Rte. 12 in the middle of nowhere CT at a no-name packy.
Good stuff, esp. the cream soda!
And no HFC, just good ole fashioned sugar!
I agree that we need to encourage Polar on this one. Fewer railcars of HFCS on the tracks down along 146 would be a good thing.
(I always think, “imagine if there were a fire…” Burnt sugar!

Russos kicks ass!!
It’s not in Worcester, but I make a trip to Market Basket in Bellingham whenever I come back to the area to get all of my local New England treats (Peggy Lawton Cookies, Devil Dogs, Coffee Syrup, etc.). I definitely picked up a few 6-packs of polar classics a couple trips ago.
[...] We didn’t order any food with local ingredients, but my friend ordered a Polar Cola, made (last time I checked) right here in Worcester. (See Buck Paxton’s thread on Polar premium sodas.) [...]
Big Y in Holden.
If Polar is by chance reading this blog, bring back sarsparilla in the bottled classic line. I’ll forgive the whole family for your annoying Mount Wachusett commericals.
They have it at Big Y on May Street, not with the other Polar stuff but with the fancy drinks.
Sweet!
Thanks for the follow up.

We buy polar classics at Hannaford (a green supermarket) in Rutland, Vermont. I hope these will catch on, so that i no longer have to make my own soda with selzer water, flavouring, and sugar.
Hannaford has a gigantic growing natural food section which contains a wide assortment of food items made with sugar or no sweetener, such as peanut butter, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, etc.
HFCS is nasty stuff. I now believe that the urban rumor (debunked by many studies and the AMA) about sugar-caused hyperactivity was started by the corn industry in order to get their evil product into our food supply.
Glad to see so many people hopping on the ‘no HFCS’ bandwagon.
