Why Sarah Palin makes strategic sense
It’s almost too simple, really. It’s going to be very hard for the Obama camp to discount Alaskan energy policy and more importantly the Alaskan Permanent Fund on a national stage.
For the uninitiated:

She really balances the ticket, in the exact opposite way in which Biden balances Obama’s.

Not to mention, a woman…gives those nutty Clinton For McCain supporters something to actually sink their pseudo-feminist teeth into.
This is just what Lucas McCain needed to round out the Repugnican ticket: a creationist friendly Charmaine Bucco lookalike.
It’s so crazy, it just might work. Unfortunatly.
Aww, poor Buck. You were so looking forward to the Deval-ing of the nation, weren’t you?
All of the chick groups will hate Palin because she’s straight, attractive and actually refuses government money for her State. But in the end McCain and Palin will win on merit, not votes from the Transgendered Obese Illiterate Action Union, or whoever it is that speaks for women these days.
Originally, (and I could easily be wrong) the President was elected by the majority vote, and the candidate that came in second became Vice President. How is it that nobody actually gets to vote for the Vice President anymore, except the chooser-candidate?
Jeff, our unique system of electing the Executive Branch can be researched online by going to the Smithsonian Institute website (it’s the best one I’ve seen on early American history).
Long story short, our system is the product of trial and error.
Actually no, Tom, I wasn’t. The above is a rather awesome and frequently heard line from the A-Team. Nothing more, nothing less.
Isn’t there a pre-school nearby where you can attempt to bait people more your equal? Or maybe see if the T&G will have you back? I could put in a good word for you.
Yeah, Buck, I need to find people to discuss things with who haven’t already been irreversibly hoodwinked by the Lefty whackjobs of MA. A pre-school might be a good place to start.
Now, beyond all this niceness, you are supporting Obama, right? I got that impression from some of your earlier posts, but I haven’t seen you post anything specifically pro-Barack in a while.
Is there no “edit” function on this board, or am I just missing it?
Anyway, I’m back on at the T&G. New name, new e-mail and a wait of about 2 weeks seemed to do the trick. But, as I’m sure you know, that board is as incestuous as they come. I’m kind of bored with it already.
I was very impressed with the Obama campaign until he became the presumptive nominee and jumped onto the AIPAC wagon, softened his Iraq stance and then totally fumbled the FISA renewal.
The addition of Biden has almost certainly lost me. He’s essentially the author of the Patriot Act, from back in the day when it was cool to be a fascist authoritarian because it was Clinton at the helm. He’s really the guy that pushed me and lots of other younger people who were wrapped up in tech back in ’90’s towards the libertarian movement when he started pushing for tighter restrictions on encryption and backdoors for the federal LE and intelligence communities.
So no, once again I have no horse in the race. But thanks for asking! I love when dudes just kind of assume they’ve got an individual pinned based solely on his proximity to the Mason-Dixon line.
And this isn’t a ‘board’ so no there is no edit function for you to use.
Now fellas, behave!
The two party system is a sham. An Oligarchy has completely overwhelmed the vestige of American democracy. How is it that we all step in line and march to the drum of the two party scam? It is remarkable to me, as I see the line between the so called parties evaporates, individuality is a losing ground, as a disparity of points of view gravitate wider apart, opening a gap ready for fascist take over, the slow death of America. A microcosm of this exist in municipal government with violations of open meeting laws, corrupt development deals and political and administrators who ignore voters needs (big in Worcester now a days). On the fed and state level it is more apparent with legislative ignoring majority votes while laws erasing our rights, our voices and freedoms. We are becoming part of the machine collective assimilating to one side of the fence or another, but with which ever side, becoming irrelevant. Go out take in some fresh air, walk through the woods and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. The end result will most likely be the same.
Buck, so you’re not going to vote? That hardly seems appropriate for someone who expresses their opinion all matters political.
Recks, the two-party system is completely a construct of the free will of the voters. We can no more eliminate the two-Party system than we could mandate a 10-Party system.
Yes, and elections are never fixed. I have some swamp land in Florida to sell . . .
More Oligarchy on the move:
