Who are these people?
I think it’s important to point out that the round-up of Hillary Clintons speech tonight at the Dem Convention over at the Blue Mass Group blog lasted exactly three comments before devolving into a discussion about the color of her pants suit.

Never mind how shrill the speech was, this complete inability to focus on anything meaningful as a party is why the Dems are likely to tank the election in November to a 9 billion year old fossil who doesn’t know what planet he’s on.

What did you expect? The Dems have always cared far more about appearances than reality.
Like I always said.
We should secede from the union and then outlaw pants suits and fossils.
Are you saying there’s no substantive coverage of the convention on our site?
“Inability to focus on anything meaningful”, huh?
Will-
Good idea, the Union wouldn’t even notice. Half of the employable people here have already “seceded” from Massachusetts.
Hey Charley,
You’ve got plenty of substantive coverage of many topics on your site. I started reading just before the 2006 convention where I was a delegate. I referenced one particular post and it was a train wreck, literally, but it speaks volumes to who the Democratic party is today. The color of a pants suit, really?
Inability to focus on anything meaningful, yes. The party is broken, Charlie. Do you really see anything coming out of this campaign which will have a real, substantive impact on Iraq, civil liberties and an economy on the verge of collapse? With some rare exceptions, like the Kucinich speech, all I’m seeing is partisan rhetoric which differs little from the GOP message other than on the issue of taxes.
Awww, poor Buck, is it finally settling in your mind that Leftism fails electorally because Leftism fails practically? Must be quite a blow.
No matter how “charismatic” Obama is, no matter how moist amd tingly he makes you, he’s yet to prove himself capable of running a 7-11. People with a real stake in America will never vote for that string-puppet.
Tom (lincoln)….didn’t you hear that he gave up on Wall Street to go to the south side of Chicago..”he could have gone to Wall Street man”
in the ole days “we, the peeps” at least used to get a piece of the pie along with the corruption..now we just get the corruption
Buck isn’t a democrat. Democrats aren’t allowed to have blogs that pick on other democrats. Group think or the gulag, comrade!
“Thoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime is death.”
Veepstakes maundering…
Obama picked a Liberal John McCain (elderly, white, rich) as his running mate and, according to the news, McCain is going to announce his VP today/tomorrow. Any opinions on who who it will (or should) be?
Romney seems to be the odds-on favorite, with KB Hutchinson as a potential surprise pick. Either one would be fine with me. I hope McCain doesn’t get stupid and pick Pawlenty or Jindahl. Neither will help his ticket. Giuliani would be a crap-shoot electorally, but he could handle the job.
We are a nation that is beyond denial. We are kidding ourselves. If we don’t start dealing with reality, it will be our undoing.
Ergo… how is it possible to “hire” a guy with minimal political experience for the most complex job in the world.
Are we just kidding ourselves. No. America is delusional.
Yeah, Barack is the ultimate neophyte. His list of accomplishments begins and ends with being “clean, articulate and black” to paraphrase his running mate.
Apart from writing two books on his favorite subject (how hard it is to be Barack Obama) and serving in a “black” seat of the Illinois legislature, he’s been living a soft, cushy little life funded by his slavish admirers and crooked money-men.
I have too much faith in America to believe that this clown can actually get elected. MA, of course, will vote for B.O., as they/we have always been the most gullible state in the country.
My prediction (at the moment) is that McCain wins by 10% in the popular vote.
Mr. Lincoln (that sounds neat eh?)
what also is influcing the election this year is, first, the disappointment with Rep. Party - blame for the economy - rightfully so - and, second, the hate towards Bush for the war & the economy - rightfully so. But why would the electorate even consider a beginner like OB is truly beyond my comprehension. I’m pragmatic. One should only hire the guy with the right set of skills and experience. How the dems pulled OB out of the hat, when there are dozens of other capable persons in the party? He’s the result of a party consensus - do the least amount of damage or the easiest to manipulate by the powers that be. But that was the same with Bush in 1990. A nobody who…
What the heck is America thinking?
I just don’t get it.
Not that you asked, but here’s my take on the war. I support the war.
For this key reason, among others:
At no point in the history of civilization has a nation as powerful as ours allowed it’s citizens to be slaughtered by foreign entities and been able to survive. For decades, America took the position that Al-Qaeda, Saddam Hussein, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. were no major threat to us. Allowing them to incinerate our citizens by the hundreds was becoming our foreign policy. That had to be stopped. Fighting in Iraq is akin to fighting in Italy during WWII. Mussolini had zip to do with Pearl Harbor, but in order to defeat Fascism, we had to defeat Italy. Hussein had little or nothing to do with 9/11, but in order to defeat Islamic terrorism, we had to defeat Iraq. No sane person likes war, but no nation would exist without it.
The buzz now is that it’ll be Palin, the Gov. of Alaska. I don’t know much about her yet, so I guess I have no opinion on her selection (if it happens). Romney is out of the running, as is Pawlenty (all according to random news stories, so maybe not accurate). I haven’t heard squat about Hutchinson.
We’ll know for sure by noon.
Done deal. It’s Sarah Palin.
