Commonwealth Care Online

I’ve spent the last hour or so playing with the States newish Commonwealth Connector site, designed to make buying state brokered health insurance a snap. Holy shit this is a nice site (for a municipal entity), if there’s one thing Gov Patrick can be accused of it’s making the states website usable and this one’s no different. Since I don’t actually need health insurance right now outside of what my employer provides, all I was doing was playing, but if I was in the market I can’t think of an easier system to buy into. Certainly a change for Massachusetts which has historically gone out of its way to make bureaucratic hurdles a spectator sport.

And look how happy this annoying hipster is with his health care! If the state can learn to market at least as effectively as the GAP, I’m sold.

I think that photo is in Europe…since the streets look a bit too cobblestone-y for any place in Mass this side of Nantucket, and I don’t think they allow non-grey-shingled buildings over 10 feet. The license plates are also looking a bit too elongated, but I digress.

The site is sharp, for sure. Pre-dating Deval, the city of boston site (cityofboston.gov) also surprisingly nice and easy to deal with, unlike 100% of the workers and departments it connects you with. Irony, I love it!
