Vertical Farming and my brush with genius
Two weeks ago I was driving down the pike and the idea of converting large, multi-level commercial buildings into indoor farms hit me like an all too obvious ton of bricks. Apparently, I must have fallen asleep during some obscure discovery channel documentary and picked up the idea in a half daze, since the BBC just ran a story on the idea and there is a formal project underway at Columbia University to make this a reality. The whole concept is fascinating; totally worth the read.

Nice. That could be a good solution for all the empty warehouse buildings in Worcester. The labor pool is here. Think of the transportation costs that are eliminated if food is grown in cities where the people are. Now, we’d just need cities to match the subsidies that rural residents get for growing stuff… to make it affordable.
I am a fan of the site Worldchanging, where they always have the latest breakthroughs in vertical farming and other visionary/”bright green” tech.
