The month long saga of Worcesters FDR Museum has come to a close with the decision to move to Chicopee. What’s a Chicopee you ask? Well if you’ve ever taken a Grey Hound from Worcester to NYC, it’s the final 2.5 minutes of driving before your stop in ‘Sprimfield’. The whole debacle with the museum came and went without the sort of public outcry it deserved, but was one of the few tragic decisions in recent memory well covered by the T&G in general and reporter Shaun Sutner in particular. I’m not going to pretend to have been a long time supporter of the collection, only having been inside once and that was by accident; looking for a place to take photos of an art event on the Union Station floor.
The real story of the move outside of the bullshit way the city ousted the museum, is the replacement tenant, the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission. I’ve yet to meet someone who can actually tell me what these folks do, but if their website is any indication what ever they do, they suck at it. Bad.
The only thing worse than the sites layout is the ridiculous use of animated gifs on their ‘Homeland Security’ page, yes apparently these clods are somehow involved in keeping you terror free; and that somehow involves the GhostBusters, unless this is a bizarre flashback of sorts.

So congratulations Worcester, you just bought yourself a planning commision, no fucking clue what they’re planning on planning; hopefully it involves a new website.

The first thing on Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission’s agenda is to bring an FDR museum to Union Station.
Sweet!
Right on.
Not to mention that it is a publicly-funded agency!!!
NEWSFLASH to CITY GOVT: There is no net benefit in moving public tax-funded agencies into public buildings.
