Overheard in the Woo

Thursday 8/10/06 1500 hrs at the Chandler St Post Office

Old man at counter: Sir, can you tape this package for me?

Douche bag male postal worker: We don’t tape packages. We sell tape.

Old man: You used to tape things for me?

Douche bag postal worker: Yea, and I used to be 15 years old. That was along time ago as well. The tape is on the wall.

And yet sales of stamps continue to decline… go figure.

This really bothers me. I think a lot of old folks go to the Post Office to mail things because it can be complicated, and at the PO there’s real live human beings to help. (I guess the Chandler Street PO is trying to alientate this demographic.)

I have a lot more sympathy when an older person takes forever to mail a package than when someone young, who should still have the sharpness to understand how the mail works, holds up the line.

Yah, they really suck. Now, not only are they rude to you when you inquire as to why it takes them 9 days to get Netflix DVDs 7 miles, but their rude to senior citizens. Next they’ll be juggling kittens. You just wait.

So did you help the guy out and tape his package for him?

No I taped up the postman and mailed him to Tórshavn.
Nicole, I carry a lot of obscure items with me on a regular basis, packing tape is not one of them.
